Capsule Wardrobes

My style changes like the seasons. While I do try to stay away from trends, sometimes I enjoy them, and they end up in my wardrobe anyway. In order to avoid having too many clothes, I’ve opted for a capsule wardrobe—meaning two seperate wardrobes for hot and cold weather.

Now, my wardrobe transitions with the seasons. My summer capsule contains all my shorts and tops, and my winter wardrobe contains sweaters and jackets. Then I have pieces that last me all year.

When the seasons change, I assess my wardrobe again, purging things I never wore that season, going to the thrift store to fill in the gaps. It has helped me tailor my style and create a wardrobe I love.

Loving everything you have in your closet can be a lengthy process. The Kon Mari method has helped me to achieve this, but there are many ways to get there. I am constantly assessing my clothes to see if they fit into the life I want for myself. It seems like a big deal, and it is. What you wear is a reflection of who you are. It may be unfortunate, but people see you how you portray yourself, and if you can tailor a wardrobe where you feel good, people will see you as confident and happy.

So yes, it’s a long process, but capsule wardrobes have helped me find my style and be confident in the woman I’m becoming.
